A Slice of Sardinia

Once in a while, everything comes together perfectly and this month, Eureka! Trying to get into the zone to write an article about the delights of Sardinia, we couldn’t resist the temptation to immerse ourselves in the brief at our local purveyor of all things Sardinian; Sardo. The combination of a strong coffee and a zesty crostata al limone certainly invoked the copywriting muse. Look out for a cheeky article on Italy’s hidden gem in the near future and in the meantime, if Sardo is anything to go by, we’ll be off there for two weeks next summer!

The Stuff of Dreams

Having recently become a permanent London resident, I have made it my personal mission to see and visit “Stuff”. Being a country dweller from birth, “seeing stuff” has usually involved A. an arduous car journey, B. a field, and C. a cagoule, so it was somewhat of a novelty to hop on the northern line to tick off the first thing on my list – the Pop Art Design exhibition currently showing at the Barbican.

Recognised as the most influential art movement of the post-war era, the Pop Art movement was used as an expression of optimism amongst the post-war generation. It recognised the newly emerging prevalence of materialism and consumerism in a booming society and the new sense of freedom borne from greater choice after decades of austerity.

The exhibition comprises more than 200 diverse works by over 70 artists and designers. Pop down and take a look...pun fully intended...

Morning Inspiration

So I’m walking up Tottenham Court Road this morning to the office and what do I see? Only our latest Mark Warner digital offering gleaming back down at me, urging me to swap the pavement for the “pow” this winter.

After months of brainstorming and soul searching, and endless inspirational cups of tea and cake, we recently launched the Mark Warner winter 13/14 creative campaign “Get Your Skis On!” There’s no better feeling than seeing your final work up and out in the world in all its shiny splendour, and this latest campaign instalment certainly doesn’t disappoint - I felt productive before I even got to work!

Going Underground

If you are getting off the Tube in the next fortnight and going up, you may well meet our creative work coming down. Mark Warner’s latest ski holiday campaign is in full swing on digital escalator panels from Waterloo to Kings Cross. The skiers just keep coming and are the perfect reminder to any keen piste-lover that now’s the time to start planning a winter escape.

It’s a great start to the day to see your work, on the way to work. All we need now is some après-ski on the way home tonight!

Getting to grips with Mark Warner

On the first morning of my Mark Warner Fam Trip to Levante, charged with the task of getting to know and understand the MW brand, I somewhat tentatively shuffled down to the tennis courts with the aim of signing up to one of the courses on offer. I hadn’t played in years but I’d heard great things about Mark Warner’s tennis courses, and after some introductory talks by Josh, Craig and Sam I relaxed and thought, this is it, Wimbledon’s looking likely.

Or not. Turns out I’m rusty, very rusty. I’m less Maria Sharapova and more Maria Heads-Up-It’s-Coming-Over. So it was with crushed dreams of Centre Court in my head that I turned up to my first group lesson with Craig the next morning, but after 4 days of excellent coaching and some additional social court time, I found myself back in the game and having a great time. I did still find the time to try out the sun-loungers though...we athletes do need to rest you know...
